GENERAL and/or INTERPRETER volunteers - Chico 2021

Event Description:

General Volunteers

(NOT community resources)

***If you are volunteering with a school, you must register through your instructor. You will not be placed in a clinical role through this registration.***

Volunteering at a California CareForce clinic is an experience like none other. It will be a full, busy day, but fun and rewarding! We aim to provide our clinic volunteers with the best experience possible. All California CareForce clinics are volunteer-led; we couldn't provide these critical dental, vision and medical services without you!

If you are FLUENT in Spanish or Hmong (or another language), please make note of that ("I speak fluent X") in your registration 'notes' section.

Be sure to check your email for a registration confirmation with more, very important details.

You MUST reply to the email stating where within the clinic you'd like to volunteer.

FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. Don't miss out!

If you do not receive a confirmation email, you did not register.

If you need assistance registering, please contact Sarina at sarina@californiacareforce.org or 916-749-4170

COVID-19 CLINIC PROCEDURES

We take seriously our responsibility to our volunteers, staff, and patients and as such, have put several COVID-19 safety procedures in place to promote patient & volunteer safety.

Everyone (patients and volunteers) will undergo a COVID-19 screening which includes a questionnaire & temperature check before entering the clinic – if symptomatic, services/entry will be denied and individuals will be referred within their county, or to their public health department, for follow up care.

All patients & volunteers will be required to show proof of vaccination; if not vaccinated, all patients & volunteers must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of receiving care or volunteering – there will be limited testing available onsite for those who are unable to show proof of vaccination or a negative test. If we are unable to test and the patient or volunteer cannot show proof of vaccination or a negative test, they will not gain entry to the clinic.

Other mitigations that will be put in place include:

  • outside patient waiting
  • enhanced infection control protocols
  • social distancing in patient lines
  • partitions around each dental station
  • reduced number of dental stations to ensure adequate spacing between dental chairs
  • significant change in patient flow to reduce the number of patients in the clinic at any one time
  • rental of additional buildings for greater separation of services & social distancing for all attendees
  • availability of appropriate PPE for all services
  • appropriate signage placed throughout clinic venue for education & guidance on preventative measures

COVID-19 VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES

California CareForce serves a diverse population and is committed to providing care to those in-need. Even with COVID-19 screening of patients, we may serve patients who are infected with COVID-19. Volunteering to work near people who may be infected with COVID-19 puts you at a higher risk of getting the virus. If you volunteer to work at a California CareForce clinic, please know you are doing so at your own risk. Additionally, California has issued a vaccination mandate that requires COVID-19 vaccinations for healthcare workers, allowing only for religious or rare medical exemptions.

Based on the above, California CareForce safety procedures include the following:

  • All volunteers will undergo a COVID-19 screening (questionnaire and temperature) upon entering the clinic (any volunteer with positive COVID symptoms will not be allowed to enter the clinic and will be referred for follow-up care).
  • All volunteers are required to wear a California CareForce-specified face covering at all times (additional PPE will be provided onsite).
  • All volunteers will be required to have completed a full COVID-19 vaccination series prior to volunteering at the 2021 Chico Clinic – please bring proof of vaccination with you to clinic check-in.
  • If the volunteer has not been vaccinated, the volunteer must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of clinic service.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at info@californiacareforce.org

Time Commitment:

Clinic days (11/12,13 and half day 14): Since the number of patients we serve each day is based on the number of volunteers we have, when you sign up to volunteer for a clinic day, we expect you will volunteer the whole day. Our clinics open in the early morning hours (we open the doors to patients at 7 am) and close in the early evening hours (around 5 pm). The schedules for each section of the clinic vary based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the volunteers in those sectionsPlease remember to review the times you're expected to arrive for your specific section of the clinic.

NO LATE ARRIVALS ARE ACCEPTED. ALL GENERAL VOLUNTEERS MUST ARRIVE AT THEIR DESIGNATED ARRIVAL TIME.

If you must leave early, please make note of that in the 'notes' section of your registration and email Sarina at sarina@californiacareforce.org.

We will not be accepting registrations the day of. All volunteers MUST register online, in advance.

Food and Drink: All food (coffee, water, light breakfast, snacks and lunch) is provided for volunteers throughout the weekend.

- More information on the food is in the confirmation email.

Help Us Set Up and Tear Down the Clinic!

Day: The Wednesday and Thursday before the clinic (11/10 and 11) and after noon on Sunday (11/14)

Time: 11/10 and 11: 9am- 4pm, Sun 11/14: 1pm- 5pm

It may not be the most glorious/rewarding job, but with a clinic of this size, it is MUCH appreciated (and needed)! If you are available for the day, or even a few hours, please consider helping CCF Team Leads and Staff with this large task.

Volunteers age 16 and 17 can volunteer with their parent's/guardian's consent. Unfortunately, we cannot allow individuals under the age of 16 to volunteer. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.
